Are you looking to apply for an OCI card in the UK?
If YES, then you’ve arrived at the right place.
Our OCI help website is going to take you through each step involved in the process of submitting your OCI application that would grant you the status of Overseas Citizen of India today.
If you have received your British citizenship, you will have to apply for a valid visa for your next visit to India. This will require you to submit the surrender certificate, after your Indian passport has been cancelled.
A conventional Tourist Visa has a validity of 6 months, while an eVisa gives you a double-entry validity of 60 days.
However, if you are able to get an OCI Visa, you will get multiple-entry life-long visa, and best of all the OCI application fees are a one-time cost.
The OCI stands for Overseas Citizenship of India, and it’s a card that has multi-entry life-long visa for India, it doesn’t have any restrictions on the length of stay in India.
The OCI Card Or OCI Visa is also known as OCI Registration Certificate and Overseas Citizenship of India. In most cases it is referred to as OCI card.
As you may know, if you have a British Passport and have received your British citizenship, you will always have to apply for a valid visa for your next visit to India.
A conventional Indian Tourist Visa has a validity period of 6 months, while an Indian eVisa gives you a double-entry validity of only 60 days. Please bear in mind that you will have to apply for this every time you travel and the fees can be quite steep – approximately £80 add the hassle and time of applying everytime you want to visit India – which if you have indian heritage is technically your right.
This is why the OCI card was introduced. Formally called a PIO (Person of Indian origin which is now defunct), an OCI Visa is a multiple-entry life-long visa and best of the OCI application fees are a one-time cost.
The OCI card can be classed as a smart card which will help you facilitate your immigration clearance faster and also using consular facilities, give you more rights in India.
